This is about as weird as it sounds: according to reports from Bloomberg, Netflix is laying the groundwork to get into the video game industry. This has raised a lot of questions and uncertainties, though it’s worth noting that the only things that exist right now are plans, and those are subject to change.
What we know right now is that Netflix has hired Mike Verdu, a former EA and Zynga executive as their vice president of game development. According to the report, "The idea is to offer video games on Netflix's streaming platform within the next year” and "The company doesn't currently plan to charge extra for the content.”...

Facebook Starts Its Own Online Journalism Function ‘Facebook News’
In the world of social media “fake news” and shared posts, it can be difficult to believe or understand half of the posts shared on social media. Facebook has decided to step into the ring of journalism by providing its own platform service, Facebook News, for “underserved communities with a small amount of local news providers.”
The Black Widow Movie is Met with Huge Success at its Domestic Box Office...
If there’s one movie that was hotly anticipated primarily due to how many times it was delayed, it’s probably Black Widow. It had several delays, with only a few of them due to the COVID pandemic that put most of media development on hold. However, finally, after all of those many delays, the Black Widow movie has made its way onto the big screen, and thus far, it’s done very, very well.
This past weekend was Black Widow’s opening in domestic theaters, being viewed at more than 4,000 theaters across North America to the tune of $80 million. This number completely overshadowed early predictions of the movie’s performance, and it outperformed F9: The Fast Saga quite easily. Of course, we’re singing its domestic praises right now, but Black Widow did quite well internationally as well, earning $78 million in worldwide box offices...

Disney Allegedly has National Treasure 3 in its Sights
While it has been 13 years since the National Treasure franchise put out a film for everyone to enjoy, it seems the patience of its fans is finally being rewarded with a National Treasure 3, script writing courtesy of Bad Boys 4 screenwriter Chris Bremner. We know this because a report from THR regarding Bad Boys 4 outright confirmed that Chris Bremner was working on the screenplay for this third National Treasure movie; Jerry Bruckheimer was also said to be involved.
Resident Evil Is Getting A TV Series On Netflix
The Resident Evil Franchise is mostly known for its video games, but it has dabbled in television and movies from time to time. However, most of them weren’t extremely popular. Fans have a pretty polarized view of the movies even if they sold decently over time, but either way, it seems that Netflix is going to give it another shot, green lighting a Resident Evil show that has a director from Breaking Bad attached to it.
Sonic wins race to win ‘best opening ever’ for a video game film

However, there is one big achievement the team behind this speedy film can claim loudly and boldly- according to CNN Business, this mighty Sega movie has now achieved the status of holding the best opening weekend record for a video game film, ever!
Disney Has Created A “Working” Star Wars Lightsaber
Since the day after Star Wars shook the world and changed cinema forever, enthusiasts and scientists alike have pondered what it would be like to own a real lightsaber. Sure, the plastic, telescopic light up version you can find in the toy section are one thing, but they fall short in many ways. Apart from those, you’ve got the expensive metal replicas that, while pretty cool, are often beyond the casual fan’s financial means. Even scientists forayed into the topic of creating a real lightsaber. Considering how popular Star Wars is and how iconic lightsabers are, it’s always been disappointing that they were purely fantasy.
Is DC Comics Doomed with Co-Publisher Dan DiDio Out?
The comic book community is facing an infinite crisis of its own as the future of DC Comics hangs in the balance before our eyes. This all has to do with recent internal schisms and drastic business changes within the DC Comics publishing team, as well as their parent company AT&T. The concern is with whether or not the old school comic book publisher will be able to push out quality, profitable comics, especially since longtime publisher Dan DiDio has been confirmed to have officially left DC Comics.
M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie Gets A Release Date And Actors
Let’s be honest: you either think M. Night is a genius or a total screwup. Probably depends on which of his movies you have seen. Generally, people tend to like The Sixth Sense. Without fail everyone despises The Last Airbender (Movie? What Movie?). Either way, it’s been a while since the notorious director has put a movie out, and whether you are expecting it or dreading it, that movie isn’t all that far off now. A bit more information about it has come to light, though it’s admittedly not that much.
Upcoming Marvel Movies, Including Black Widow, Suffer More Debut Delays
Likely due to the climate of the world at large, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has suffered even more setbacks: most notably the Black Widow film, which will now not be in theaters until 2021. This is probably also thanks to the fact that many movie theaters across the globe are still closed, leading Disney to do quite a bit of radical schedule restructuring.
Will Disney Plus Win the Streaming Wars?
If any silver linings have come out of this global pandemic, its the sudden increase in attention and innovation put towards high-speed internet, telecommunication capabilities, (with products such as Zoom winning new customers over for commercial and personal use), and new and improved streaming services ranging from Disney Plus, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. However, like in all things, there is always a leading frontrunner, and Disney Plus seems keen to take that notorious streaming wars throne.
The Fast and Furious Movie Franchise gets a Video Game in May – “Fast...
The Game Awards 201 naturally included a great deal of announcements, with many of them being, as you may have guessed, about games. However, one title no one may have been expecting was that of a Fast and Furious video game based on the movie franchise. Dubbed Fast and Furious: Crossroads, the trailer makes it seem as though we’ll get everything one expects out of such a franchise; cars, drama, action, and insane thrills. Many of the characters we saw resemble characters from the films, so get ready to see Vin Diesel on your consoles.
Of course, all we really got about the game was a trailer, so frankly we don’t know all that much about it. But we do know which platforms the game will release on, as well as who is developing the game and who is publishing it. The game will be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, in May of 2020. It’s being published by Bandai Namco, and developed by Slightly Mad Studios, which also worked on a few Need for Speed games, as well as the Project Cars series.
A Robin Hood Remake Is On The Way, According To Disney
Disney has been on a remake kick lately, feeling the need to redo just about every movie they produced in the past. There’s something to be said about a lack of creativity in rehashing things that have already been done, and while one may argue that remakes bring the content to a new generation, you could also argue that the new generation should just watch the originals.
What Should Movie Theaters Look Like After The Pandemic?
There is one thing I can promise you that is going to happen after this pandemic, and you don’t even need to trust me to know its true, just trust history; industries that were struggling before this situation will have businesses die, or have businesses thrive like never before. Americans want to go out and do things again, they will want to travel by train and by air, there will be cruises to schedule, and if you’re like me- you’re looking forward to getting to go back to your local movie theater.
