Like a great number Assassin's Creed games that have come before this most recent title, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will get a very significant amount of post-launch DLC, which is no surprise for a Ubisoft game. That said, some of the DLC will be free, while other parts will be locked behind a $40 season pass. After all, content takes money to make, so no surprise there either.

Some serious changes are being made to Xbox Live Gold’s subscription program, as Microsoft has decided to discontinue their year-long subscription plans. As of now, only monthly and three-month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are available from Microsoft's website. Unfortunately, this was not an accidental change, and Microsoft definitely intended to make it happen, for reasons they extrapolated on to some extent.

Ever since the advent of new generations of consoles following the first, backwards compatibility has been a hot topic for gamers and game developers. After all, many gamers want to be able to play their old favorites, even if they get a new console. Within the last several days, rumors have been bustling about a potential takeover of the crippled AMC Theaters by the godlike entity known as Amazon. According to Marketwatch, “Shares of AMC Entertainment Holdings rocketed on heavy volume Monday, after a media report that the struggling movie theater chain had held buyout talks with Amazon, as AMC’s value has shrunk since the COVID-19 pandemic led to theater shutdowns worldwide.” Now in AMC’s defense, their stock value wasn’t dropping because of poor earnings or business decisions, almost a majority of financial experts agree that when the full might of the American economy reopens, many large and small businesses alike will come back to life, meaning many conversations like the one with Amazon might be meaningless several months after we begin to see the new “normal.”

Recently, Ubisoft has made quite a significant change to its primary player services, Ubisoft Club and Uplay. From here on out, both services will function under Ubisoft Connect, a platform from the popular game publisher that intends to aid players in staying connected with not only each other, but themselves, via things like cross-progression and cross-platform support. Ubisoft Connect will debut on October 29 alongside the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion. Players with a Ubisoft account will be able to "play, progress, and stay in touch with friends anywhere."

While we’ve known about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order since it was revealed back at E3 of 2018, we’ve only recently received a release date for it, that being November 15th of 2019. It’ll launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, though PC distribution will be handled solely through EA’s Origin Store. The game, being developed by Respawn Entertainment of Titanfall and Apex Legends renown, will be entirely single-player.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is the current richest man in the world, yet he is still cashing out his Amazon shares at an alarming rate. He sold $990 million of Amazon’s shares last Thursday and Friday according to new filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, despite selling $1.8 billion worth of stock earlier that same week, totaling to roughly $2.8 billion in stock sold.

Bankruptcy is never fun, but filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy for a company is a different type of financial and emotional strain, one that the retail chain Pier 1 is about to learn all too well. On February 17th, it became official that Pier 1, a home furnishing retailer with it’s headquarters located in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a press release to Business Insider that they will be “pursuing a ‘orderly sale process’ by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.”

It’s a common line of thinking; if a game is available on multiple platforms, being able to play against players from any platform would be a good thing. These many games span the breadth of three generations of Xbox consoles, and as long as you remain a subscriber to Gold, you’ll have access to all of them for free. Naturally, that means you’ll be locked out of playing them if your subscription ends.
