While it still feels a little odd for a Nintendo gaming platform to have some not very kid-friendly titles made available for it, it’s pretty clear at this point that we can expect it to become the norm. After all, now that Bulletstorm, of all games, is getting a Switch release, is there anything too uncouth for the Nintendo Switch? Either way, there was a brief listing on The Console Club recently, which offered a pre-order for an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Bundle. The bundle was listed for the rough equivalent of about $42.00, but it has been removed since then.

Still, this has led to some speculation regarding whether or not Ubisoft is currently remastering the titles for a Nintendo Switch release. After all, these wouldn’t be the first Assassin’s Creed games to make it onto the Switch. Assassin’s Creed 3 was already remastered earlier this year for this Switch. There’s also no new Assassin’s Creed game slated for release this year, as the next major installment for the franchise isn’t due until 2020. That being the case, releasing some older titles on the Switch would be a pretty good way to keep fans entertained while they wait for the release of the next Viking age installment.

Black Flag was released back in October of 2013, highly praised for its new additions to the gameplay, mostly being naval combat and other pirate-related activities. Rogue didn’t receive as much positive mention, primarily due to it not offering much different mechanics wise from older entries. It took Rogue a bit longer, but eventually both games got remastered versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Assassin’s Creed 3 also got a remaster for the newest generation consoles prior to being released on the Switch, so even though it is speculation at this point, it seems likely that AC 4 and Rogue will eventually get releases on Switch as well.

We can only wonder if this trend will continue over time. While the Assassin’s Creed franchise has just barely dipped their toes in the Switch market, this could be an indicator that they plan to continue with this trend. Might we see more Assassin’s Creed games remastered and released on the Switch in the future? It’s impossible to know at this point, but the way things are heading, it seems very likely.
