In a recent announcement made by Sony, it has been stated that PlayStation has acquired the rights to the Evolution Fighting Games Tournament, better known by its abbreviation, EVO. On the Sony Interactive Entertainment blog, Sony claims that EVO is to begin the next chapter of Esports for PlayStation and its many multiplayer titles. This acquisition also includes a partnership with esports venture RTS. The reveal will be a heavily online-focused event starting on August 6th and again on August 13th. Each event will last 3 days, ending on the 8th and the 15th respectively.

In usual fashion, Sony has finally decided to inform the masses as to what games they will be receiving for the month of November, provided they are subscribers to PlayStation Plus. We’re confident in saying that it is quite possibly one of the best months that the program has ever had. First up are two highly praised major titles, those being Hollow Knight: Voidheart edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Each of these great games will be free starting on November 3. Both of them are excellent games, but there’s actually better news, as the most exciting freebie included in November is actually the bonus title, Bugsnax. Indeed, the PlayStation exclusive title will be free on launch day.

Gamers are plenty familiar with the notion of console exclusive games: Halo for the Xbox, Uncharted for the PlayStation, you know how it goes. However, it’s not every day that a console gets an exclusive mode for a game, which is what’s happening for both the PlayStation 4 and 5 in regards to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. There are a few caveats though.

July this year will mark the 10th anniversary of PlayStation Plus on the third iteration of Sony’s flagship console, which brought paid multiplayer services and downloadable games every month for its subscribers. To celebrate this anniversary, July 2020's PS Plus offerings are quite strong, with NBA 2K20 and Rise of the Tomb Raider being particularly noteworthy.

Roughly every five years is the window for new generations of video game consoles to be released, and the year 2020 marks that time yet again. By roughly the holiday season this year, we will get to see both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5. Even though the pandemic has been impacting workflow across all industries, these intended release dates are still holding true, so it won’t be long now before we get to enjoy these new consoles. But what titles will we get to play on these consoles? Well, we may not be able to say for certain what we’ll get to see on the Xbox Series X, but we do have a list of titles that we’ll be able to play on the PlayStation 5, as well as a few guesses as to which other titles we’ll get to see on the future.

This probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone: as games become more and more advanced in scope and graphics, chances are it is going to take more workers, more time, and more money to make them. Simple economics: the more complex a product is, the more it costs to produce, and usually, the more it costs to buy as a consumer. Whether or not games will be more expensive for consumers to buy anytime soon remains to be seen, but for now, Jim Ryan, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is convinced that production of next gen games will be more expensive, though only slightly.

Just a few days ago, Sony had announced plans to host a virtual event on June 4th that would reveal some new details regarding the PlayStation 5, as well as some of the games that would be seen in its initial lineup. However, the company is now delaying this event indefinitely, not providing any particular date on which they may hold it instead of the original.

Lots of video game events have been cancelled this year due to the vicious hands of COVID-19, but many game companies have turned to alternative solutions to get around the absence. Online presentations have been the most prominent, and Sony has been employing such methods as well. On June 4th, they’ll be livestreaming an event that covers more details about the PS5, as well as some of the games that will be available on the platform. The presentation will be on June 4th at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET, and will last about an hour as it shows the new system and actual gameplay on it.

At a point in time when the Coronavirus seems to be affecting everything, Sony’s Jim Ryan has covered quite a few details about how the upcoming PS5 will not be affected by COVID-19, be it launch date or price. Of course, we still don’t know what the exact launch date for the next-gen console is supposed to be, as both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X have tenable release windows. Both Sony and Microsoft have stated that the intended launch window for these consoles is late 2020, most likely during the holiday season.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen: it really seems like we’ll be stuck in quarantine for several more weeks, which isn’t too welcome. That said, social distancing and confinement is a perfect time to need more new games to play, and thanks to another great sale on the PS4, new games are available for those who don’t have them, and at pretty good prices. The discounts are mostly for games developed by Japanese companies, such as Dark Souls, Megaman, Final Fantasy and much more.

With seemingly everything society cares about being affected by the Coronavirus, it’s nice to hear that someone is confident their investments won’t be. According to Sony, the COVID-19 pandemic won’t affect the release date of the PS5: or rather, it shouldn’t, at any rate. Sony still expects the console to launch during 2020’s holiday season.

Patapon 2 may be over ten years old at this point, but its remastered version is coming to the PS4 this week; January 30th, in fact. Come Thursday, it will be available for $14.99. Originally released all the way back in 2008 for the PlayStation Portable (God rest its soul), fans have been begging for a port or a remaster of Patapon 2 ever since the original Patapon game received such treatment back in 2017.
