Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla DLC Roadmap Has Been Revealed

Like a great number Assassin's Creed games that have come before this most recent title, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will get a very significant amount of post-launch DLC, which is no surprise for a Ubisoft game. That said, some of the DLC will be free, while other parts will be locked behind a $40 season pass. After all, content takes money to make, so no surprise there either.
Xbox Live Gold

Xbox Live Gold Will No Longer Have 12-Month Subscriptions

Some serious changes are being made to Xbox Live Gold’s subscription program, as Microsoft has decided to discontinue their year-long subscription plans. As of now, only monthly and three-month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are available from Microsoft's website. Unfortunately, this was not an accidental change, and Microsoft definitely intended to make it happen, for reasons they extrapolated on to some extent.

Ubisoft Says That PS5 Backwards Compatibility Will Be Severely Limited

Ever since the advent of new generations of consoles following the first, backwards compatibility has been a hot topic for gamers and game developers. After all, many gamers want to be able to play their old favorites, even if they get a new console. Unfortunately, those who purchase the Sony PlayStation 5 will be severely limited in backwards compatibility capabilities. According to Ubisoft, the PlayStation 5 will not have backwards compatibility support for anything earlier than the PS4: that includes the PS1, 2 and 3, of course.
Assassin's Creed Switch

Two More Assassin’s Creed Games may be Coming to the Switch

While it still feels a little odd for a Nintendo gaming platform to have some not very kid-friendly titles made available for it, it’s pretty clear at this point that we can expect it to become the norm. After all, now that Bulletstorm of all games is getting a Switch release, is there anything too uncouth for the Nintendo Switch? Either way, there was a brief listing on The Console Club recently, which offered a preorder for an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Bundle. The bundle was listed for the rough equivalent of about $42.00, but it has been removed since then.

For fans of the ever popular Dragon Quest series, there’s good new to be had, provided you own a Nintendo Switch. Of course there’s the release of Dragon Quest 11 to look forward to later this month, but we aren’t referring to that alone. Square Enix has announced that the first three games in the series will also be released on Nintendo Switch on September 27th. The three of them will be sold individually on the Nintendo eShop, though it’s unclear if they will also get a physical copy release at some point.

The Pre-Order Bonuses for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have been Revealed

It’ll launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, though PC distribution will be handled solely through EA’s Origin Store. The game, being developed by Respawn Entertainment of Titanfall and Apex Legends renown, will be entirely single-player.

Ubisoft Connect Is Aiming To Make Cross-Progression A New Standard

Recently, Ubisoft has made quite a significant change to its primary player services, Ubisoft Club and Uplay. From here on out, both services will function under Ubisoft Connect, a platform from the popular game publisher that intends to aid players in staying connected with not only each other, but themselves, via things like cross-progression and cross-platform support. Ubisoft Connect will debut on October 29 alongside the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion. Players with a Ubisoft account will be able to "play, progress, and stay in touch with friends anywhere."
GOG Sale

A Huge Number of PC Games are on Sale at GOG for Spring

Spring is here; flowers, pollen, allergies bugs are all on the rise, which kind of brings down the joy of fresh new life and all that. But for us members of the gaming community, none of that really matters anyway, because the most important thing about spring is all the major savings on video games across all platforms. Something about spring just convinces game sellers to put massive discounts on everything, not that there’s anything to complain about.
Xbox Gold Games

Xbox Games With Gold For November 2020

Finally, Microsoft has gone ahead and revealed the next four games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to get. These many games span the breadth of three generations of Xbox consoles, and as long as you remain a subscriber to Gold, you’ll have access to all of them for free. Naturally, that means you’ll be locked out of playing them if your subscription ends.
The Newest PUBG Update Introduces Cross-Play to the Game

The Newest PUBG Update Introduces Cross-Play to the Game

It’s a common line of thinking; if a game is available on multiple platforms, being able to play against players from any platform would be a good thing. It ensures that there are more players to face off against in matchmaking, which is never a bad thing. That said, it took Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds some time to make the cross-platform move, but the most recent update is here, and with it, cross-play.
Halo Infinite

How to Register for the Halo Infinite Beta

With E3, players finally managed to get a bit more insight into the upcoming next entry in the immensely popular and famous Halo franchise, Halo Infinite. The year-long delay from its initial release date was a heavy blow for many fans, admittedly, 2021 is a good year for the release, being the 20th anniversary of both Halo and even the Xbox brand. But more important than any of that is the fact that there’s a beta coming up for Infinite this summer prior to its full release, and there is of course a way for prospective players to get into it. According to the developers, it should be a fairly easy matter to sign up for this beta, though it’ll be even easier if we talk about how to get in.

Crysis Remastered Is Coming To PS4, Xbox One, And PC This Summer

Due to negative feedback on the first gameplay reveal for Crysis Remastered, it was delayed beyond its initial release date. Instead of the initial date it was supposed to debut on, it will now be released on September 18th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Being a remaster instead of a brand-new game, it will retail for just $30 instead of the traditional $60.
The Australian Classification Board

Australia is Having a Difficult Time Managing its Game Censorship Rules

In Australia, adults can purchase Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 Reservoir Dogs with no trouble whatsoever. However, they can’t purchase the 2006 video game of Reservoir Dogs, which follows the plot of the movie exactly. According to the Australian Classification Board, the video game is banned "because of high impact violence and torture," while the movie itself is not banned for the same reason. This is only one example of the major issues Australia has when classifying and banning video games.
GameStop Storefront

GameStop is Closing Retail Storefronts and going Digital

About a week ago, GameStop head honchos apparently thought it was a good idea to keep their physical stores open during the Coronavirus outbreak, even in states that required all non-essential retail stores to be closed. According to a memo the guys in charge left for their employees in case they were questioned by government officials, GameStop considers itself essential retail.
Halo Infinite

Another Director Has Left Halo Infinite

Quite recently, director Chris Lee has left Halo Infinite, news that is coming not too far on the heels of the game’s delay from the release date that was supposed to coincide with the launch of the Xbox Series X/S. That delay ended up pushing Halo Infinite back to some as of yet to be revealed date in 2021.

Heavy Rain Developer Quantic Dream is Working on a New Star Wars Game, Allegedly

It’s always good news to hear about a new Star Wars game, at least for those who care about the franchise in the first place. It used to be that we got a new Star Wars game every year, but that was a long time ago. However, it seems that the old trend may be coming back. Granted, what we are about to talk about here is just a rumor, but still...

Everything Currently Known About Fable 4

It’s been a very long time in gaming terms since Fable 3 came out. Since then, the popular series from Lionsgate has pretty much faded away. The franchise didn’t even get an entry on the Xbox One, and it’s been more than ten years since Fable 3: practically an eternity in this field. But now, the Fable franchise is finally looking at a rebirth on the Xbox Series X|S. Of course, we’ve actually known that for a little while, since Microsoft gave us a reveal trailer for a new Fable game back in their 2020 showcase. Oddly enough though, information about the new Fable game has been especially vague since then...
