With Mixer getting a huge boost in the defection of popular streamer Ninja, there’s no doubt that Twitch is going to keep up its nice benefits for its prime members to try and keep the scales from tipping even further. This is all great news for Twitch Prime members, as they get access to even more nice things from their membership, such as free games and free in-game loot. This month’s freebies are available until September 3rd, so you’ve got the better part of the month to cash in.

The first and likely most noteworthy freebie this month is Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, a 2017 remake of 1989 title for the Sega Master System: new hand-drawn animations and orchestration included. The game has a very classic Metroid side scrolling feel to it, as you take on the role of an adventurer turned lizard man and gain new abilities and forms as you progress through the story. It has received high praise from many gaming sites, including an 8/10 score in its GameSpot review.
The good news is that it is very faithful to the original, maintaining most of the elements that made it good in the first place. As an updated version, it really just presents the retro game with better graphics, audio, and effects. It is a bit on the short side though, likely not requiring more than a day to beat.
However, there are three other free games for members to claim: Mable in the Wood, another Metroid-style game where you gain forms and abilities as you progress in your quest to save or destroy the world, Automachef, a management game where you can program machinery and design kitchens, and Pumped BMX Pro, an arcade racing game were you pull tricks and stunts on side-scrolling platform levels. All of these games are available until September 3rd.
If you’re not interested in any of these free games, Twitch Prime is also offering its usual smattering of free in game content, such as a free twelve months of Nintendo Switch online, and loot, skins, and emotes for games like Red Dead Online, Grand Theft Auto Online, Apex Legends, and League of Legends. As a reminder, you’ll have to link your Twitch account to your Prime account to claim any of these nice free things. If you haven’t signed up already, a free trial is always available, meaning you can even check out some of those free games at literally no cost to yourself.
Just remember, September 3rd is when all of these offers will be replaced by something else, so don’t wait to act until it’s too late to get free things.
