An Avengers game is being made by Marvel and Square Enix, and we expected to get details about it on June 10th, when they planned to go into detail about it. However, a leak has provided us with some info about the game ahead of time. We were supposed to hear about it at E3 anyway, but a bit of early detail never hurt anyone.
Details aren’t exactly very in depth though. A leak from the E3 Coliseum website has provided us with the relatively tame details informing us that the game will have both solo and co-op options available. Since then the leak has been removed from the site, but we still got the description of it as well. “an epic action-adventure that combines cinematic storytelling with continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay.”
It goes on to describe the intended impact of the game as well: “Assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities, customize your heroes to fit your playstyle and combine powers to defend an ever-expanding world under constant threat.”
The game was announced back in 2017, and has been widely anticipated since then, with good reason. For one, the superhero genre is of course in an excellent state right now, so lots of people are invested in the overall theme of the game to begin with. Second, it’s being developed in conjunction with Square Enix; a Japanese company notorious for extremely high quality products, including but not limited to Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and NieR: Automata. The game will also have Deus Ex studio Eidos Montreal, as well as Crystal Dynamics. With all of this backing the development, hopes are high that this game will be extremely good.
Other than the leak, we of course have the Square Enix press release from when the game was announced. “The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.”
Unfortunately, that’s all the detail we really have at this moment in time, though it is not like we’ll have to wait too much longer to learn more about this heavily anticipated game. While no game is perfect and Square Enix isn’t completely without their less stellar products, a good genre backed by a good game developer is a good recipe for success, and hopefully satisfaction for gamers everywhere. We’ll know more when E3 shines some light on the game.
