Coronavirus is everywhere in the news, mostly in regards to how many things are being cancelled or limited because of it. Unfortunately, that list of affected things just keeps on growing, as it turns out that even Marvel’s Black Widow movie has been delayed due to the virus, and it won’t be coming out in May.

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow – Official Teaser Trailer

Of course, it’s not like this movie is the first to be pushed back. Antlers, The New Mutants, and Mulan have all been pushed back too, with no new release dates being announced. Other popular movies like Fast & Furious 9 and No Time to Die also got delayed, though we do know the new debut dates of those films.

In fact, it seems that the Coronavirus is really putting the hurt on media of all sorts, with Disney halting production of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the new The Little Mermaid, the Home Alone remake, and all the James Cameron’s Avatar sequels.

Similarly, Amazon’s new show based on Lord of the Rings, DC’s The Batman and the next season of the Witcher have all suffered the same fate. It’s tough times for entertainment, without question.

Unfortunately, until the Coronavirus situation is under control, it is unlikely that work will resume on any of these hotly anticipated shows or movies. And on top of that, we have no way of knowing when the new dates for any of them will be announced. In the case of the Black Widow film, the delay hurts even more, as the movie wasn’t far off at all. It was going to be available on May 1st, but now we have no release date at all.

Naturally, we can assume that containment of the Coronavirus will ultimately lead to everything returning to a state of relative normalcy, but seeing as how no one knows when that is going to happen either, it’s not a very notable spark of hope.

In the end though, it is probably for the best that everything is being delayed or cancelled: even though the Coronavirus isn’t all that deadly to the majority of people, it’s always better to prevent its spread if possible, so these directors and publishing companies have probably made the right call. It’s just too bad that we have to go without some of our favorite entertainment as a consequence of good judgment.

Hopefully news will start to flow regarding all of these shows and movies as the Coronavirus situation dies down. Once the virus gets contained, it is likely that things will resume and we the people will be informed of the state of our favorite shows. But considering the state of affairs worldwide, that could be some time away.

As the situation continues to develop and even more hotly anticipated shows and movies are delayed or cancelled, we’ll be sure to keep the masses informed, to ensure that no one gets their hopes up for nothing, at the very least.
