While Dying Light 2 was initially supposed to be released in Spring of 2020, developer Techland has unfortunately confirmed that Dying Light 2 is delayed indefinitely. This was revealed in a statement they made on Twitter just recently.

“We were initially aiming for a Spring 2020 release with Dying Light 2, but unfortunately we need more development time to fulfill our vision,” Techland wrote. “We will have more details to share in the coming months, and will get back as soon as we have more information. We apologize for this unwelcome news. Our priority is to deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and to the expectations of you, the fans.”

From Twitter:

While developer Techland has not announced a new date of release for Dying Light 2, it is still expected for the game to make it onto Xbox One and PS4, so one would think the game is still going to come out sometime this year, prior to the release of next gen consoles near the end of it. That said, this is pure conjecture, and there’s actually no concrete evidence of this actually being the case, but one can certainly hope.

Needless to say, delays for popular games are never welcome by the community, though it is worth noting that several hotly anticipated games have been delayed as of late, including two games from Square Enix, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and The Avengers RPG.

Even Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed until near the end of 2020, something nobody was looking forward to. Why Dying Light 2 had to be added to this list is a cruel mystery, but it at least seems that the problem isn’t limited to just Techland.

Hopefully, Techland will have more updates regarding the state of Dying Light 2 in the coming months of 2020. Whether or not they will be good or ill remains to be seen, but naturally we all hope for the best.

At the very least, it would be nice if fans could get a concrete date of release, so they would at least know when to expect something they were all hoping for. On top of that, we should all hope that this video game delays don’t continue to grow in number, or 2020 is going to be a very boring year for video games.
