Nancy Travis is a New York City native who was born in 1961. She lived her childhood in Boston and Baltimore, but eventually returned to her hometown to attend NYU. Her first acting job was in the American Jewish Theater, but she quickly branched out, getting roles in off-broadway and eventually award-winning Broadway productions. Her very first role in Hollywood was in 1985 in the movie Malice in Wonderful. Later that year, she captured a role in the television show Spenser: For Hire. From there her career truly began.
