Every month, Xbox players that have Xbox Live Gold get free games. It’s a pretty sweet deal, especially considering that subscribers often get four games, two being Xbox One titles and two being older Xbox 360 or original Xbox titles. The following are the games available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in March.
Batman: The Enemy Within
First off is Batman: The Enemy Within from Telltale games and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, respectively. Batman will be available for download for the entire month of March, while Castlevania will only be available until the 15th: by the time you read this it may already be too late, which is a bit of a bummer.
But starting on March 16th, two more games will become available, so don’t fret. The first is Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, a side-scrolling platformer for the Xbox One. That’ll be available until April 15th. Alongside it will be the quite popular 360 title Sonic Generations, which will be available until March 31st. Naturally, these 360 titles are backward compatible and can be played on your Xbox One.
Of course, these games aren’t ‘really’ free, as you do have to pay money in some form to acquire them. But they are convenient bonuses to a different service you paid for, so in that sense, they are indeed free. Xbox Live Gold is only $10 a month: frankly, the four games you get each month are worth more than that almost regardless of what they actually are. You could always go a step beyond for a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which is $15 a month but also includes a huge library of games. You still get the free games every month on top of that, so it’s a pretty great return for your investment.
And while we promise you this article isn’t trying to sell you anything, we would be remiss not to mention the fact that Microsoft has announced Halo Infinite as being slated for Game Pass presence on the Xbox One. That’s right: when the end of 2020 rolls around, you won’t even have to buy the brand-new Xbox One X to enjoy the long-awaited next entry in the legendary Halo franchise. Instead, you’ll have to pay $10 for a month: probably even less if a deal is going on the time. But that’s a ways off: for now, just enjoy the great free games that are up for grabs.
