Where To Preorder The PlayStation 5

The Xbox Series X is finally available for preorder, but the PlayStation 5 beat it to the punch, with preorders for the new Sony console going live last week. As you can imagine, they sold out pretty quickly, which is why we’re going to cover their availability and where you can find them.

The PlayStation 5 is launching on November 12th for $500, the same price as the Xbox Series X. The digital edition, which is akin to the Xbox Series S in the matter of not having a disc drive, will be $400. The console became available for preorder last Wednesday following Sony’s PS5 event. Stock was available with all of the expected retailers, such as Best Buy, Walmart, and Target, but it sold out extremely quickly.

Sony apologized for the stock situation as far as preorders are concerned, claiming that there would be more stock available sometime in the next few days. Of course, we expect that stock to sell out pretty quickly as well, but even if you miss your chance then, there should be chances to preorder the console within the months leading up to the release date of November 12th.

If you’re looking to preorder and want to know where stock will be distributed when it does become available again, you can look at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Best Buy, GameStop, and AntonOnline.

It’s important to keep in mind that every retailer handles preorders differently. Some may charge you upfront while others may not charge you until you actually get the item that you preordered. Amazon does not charge you until your product is actually shipped. GameStop waits until five days prior to shipping to charge you. Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Sam’s Club place an authorization hold on your card. They may not charge you until the product ships, but authorization holds can affect how much credit you have available, so it’s effectively the same as paying upfront.

If you have already gotten your hands on the PS5, or if you just want to go ahead and get some of the accessories you may need for it, you can also order the PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller, the PS5 HD Camera, the DualSense Charging station, the PS5 Media Remote, and the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset. You can find the first three on Amazon, but the media remote and headset are only available on PlayStation Direct.

There are also some PlayStation 5 games available for preorder as well. This includes Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watchdogs: Legion, Cyberpunk 2077, and many more exclusive and non-exclusive titles.

If you haven’t gotten your preorder in for the PS5 just yet, it’s probably a good idea to sign up for alerts from your preferred retailer as to when they have stock available again. Otherwise, you’re likely to lose your chance, as that stock will probably be gone and bought before you even learn that it was available in the first place.
