As we get closer to the holidays, tons of games are bound to come out, but we aren’t quite at that point yet. Thankfully, there are still plenty of new and amazing games being released in September, for pretty much every gaming device; Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC are all getting some excellent new releases, and we’ll cover some of the most exciting ones here.
Borderlands 3
The ever popular Borderlands franchise is getting another game on September 14th, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As for what the game will entail, thankfully it has some interesting features that will set it apart from previous entries in the franchise. Naturally, this includes a host of interesting characters to serve as your Vault Hunters, but more importantly, you’ll finally get to crack some vaults that aren’t on Pandora. Borderlands 3 will finally let you visit other planets aboard the spaceship Sanctuary III. And of course, there will be more than enough guns for you to use in your fight against the main antagonists.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
After the huge success of Breath of the Wild, it’s no surprise that another Legend of Zelda game is right around the corner. Link’s Awakening will be out on the Switch come September 20th, though it’s technically not a new game, but a remake of the Gameboy title of the same name. Naturally, that means it will include the same plot and adventure across Koholint Island, but you’ll get to experience it all with remastered graphics, soundtracks, and a new dungeon editor mode. Even though this is an old adventure, these factors will ensure it feels new.
Gears 5
The Gears of War franchise has a storied history; and apparently so many games that nobody bothers calling it by its full name anymore. Despite the new release, Gears 5 is going to be a pretty straightforward GOW game, with the single player campaign and multiplayer modes you’ve come to expect. But there are some unique changes going on in Horde mode, where each unique character will get their own unique abilities. There will also be a new 3-player coop mode called Escape, where players destroy Locust hives. Gears 5 is coming out on September 10th for PC and Xbox One.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
This isn’t a new game, but is a major expansion for the relatively new Monster Hunter World. The Iceborne expansion drops on September 6th, bringing with it a new snowy region, lots of new monsters to hunt and take down, a new Master rank mode for players who want the ultimate challenge. The addition of a new area and biome to explore is by far the most notable and exciting addition to the game, especially since it’ll include new monsters to hunt.
