September is right around the corner, and as always, subscribers to PlayStation Plus will gain access to some games for free (not including the cost of being subscribed to PlayStation Plus, of course).

Which free games are available for PlayStation Plus in September 2020?

As soon as September 1st comes around, subscribers will be able to get their hands on both Street Fighter V and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Admittedly, this duo is a significantly stronger offering of titles than PlayStation Plus usually offers, so they are definitely worth grabbing before they are gone on October 5th.

Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V came out back in 2016, but it is still the most recent main entry in Capcom’s Street Fighter series. It has grown significantly over the past four years, adding many characters, outfits and other features since release. It is currently in the fifth and final season of updates, but there is still more content to be added in the future. The game has received many positive reviews for its deep and rewarding fighting system and extremely varied roster of characters and playstyles. Moreover, the game has remained compatible for all players with each update, so those who don’t wish to pay any money can still play with everyone else.

To celebrate Street Fighter V’s availability on PlayStation Plus, Sony will be holding tournaments for the game, beginning on September 4th. Doing well in these tournaments could result in various prizes, including cash.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)

PUBG hardly needs an introduction after it almost single-handedly popularized the battle royale genre in the modern gaming era. It practically introduced the idea of jumping out of a plane to duke it out on an island for the current generation of consoles and gamers. That said, it’s much different from most other battle royale games, requiring more tactics, precise gunplay, and map knowledge than many of its contemporaries.  Of course, it too can be gotten by PS Plus subscribers throughout the month of September, up until October 5th.

August 2020 Games

The games that were available for the month of August were Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. Unfortunately, they were only available until August 31st.

What is PlayStation Plus?

PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that gives its subscribers access to a great many games, as well as some that you can download and keep for yourself forever, like the games we have mentioned above. By that alone, it’s generally a pretty good deal, though you don’t necessarily need it to access other features of PlayStation’s online services, such as multiplayer.

All in all, this is definitely a good month for PlayStation Plus subscribers, since they will be gaining access to two quite popular games. So, if you are only going to get PS Plus for a brief window of time, this month would be an extremely good time to do it. But even if you want to keep it longer, there’s plenty of benefit to doing so, with lots of free games to be acquired throughout the course of a single year.
