Electronic Arts has recently provided the gaming community with updates regarding Apex Legends for both the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, confirming for us when the game will launch on both platforms. Unfortunately, it’s not all good news for people awaiting the release. But, it’s not all bad either.

As of right now, Apex Legends will still become available for PC via Steam on November 4th. Origin players, in particular, will be able to switch back and forth between Origin and Steam, with their progression being kept between the two platforms. As for Steam players, they’ll be getting free Half-Life and Portal gun charms so long as they long in during Season 7, though there’s little chance anyone that just got the game wouldn’t do that. This is doubly so since the new season launches on November 4th as well, the same day that it becomes available on Steam.

Unfortunately, things aren’t looking as bright for Nintendo Switch players, as EA has stated that the Nintendo Switch port of Apex Legends has been delayed until sometime in 2021. Worst still, that’s all we’ve got as far as a new release date: sometime in 2021. Could be at the beginning of the year, could be at the end.

The reason for this is briefly commented on by game director Chad Grenier, who said the “unexpected new challenges” of 2020 negatively impacted the game’s development on the Nintendo Switch. However, it’s probably better that the game is being delayed in order to make sure it has all the features it needs. When it drops, it will come with “full feature parity with the other versions of the game,” which will include cross-platform support and the latest seasonal content.

If you aren’t sure if your computer can handle Apex Legends, we’ve provided the minimum and recommended specs for the game below.

Respawn has recently begun dropping some hints about new content coming to Apex Legends, including their new character Horizon. Very little is known about her right now, other than the fact that she can apparently manipulate gravity.

In the meantime, players that are waiting for Season 7 to start have a Halloween Themed Event to keep them entertained. The event is titled Fight or Fright, and it adds a Shadow Royale mode that incorporates Titanfall’s wall-running mechanic, something we’ve all missed.
